I recently brought my experience as a 15-year veteran of secondary science education; K-5 curriculum development coach; NGSX facilitator; and developer and facilitator of NGSS professional learning, to a new freshwater research initiative: the Center for Freshwater Research and Education (CFRE). Our vision: Educate the Community; Sustain our Great Lakes describes my goal in working with K-12 students, teachers, and learners of all ages. I am designing programs for you and your students to learn about and participate in freshwater stewardship where you live. Often the pre-designed curriculum leaves out a sense of place and a call to action in your local area. Our initiative supports your adopted curriculum with educational extensions connecting students to the larger Great Lakes system starting in their own back yard.
Do you want input in the design of this place-based stewardship program? Are you interested in piloting lessons that guide your students through scientific data collection? Please contact me to collaborate.
