Talk to Joshua Barclay about powering your school with solar energy!

Joshua Barclay, M.S., has taught both high school and university science for over 27 years, has served as an environmental advocate and youth leader for over 30 years, and was selected as the MSTA Michigan High School Science Teacher of the Year for 2016.

In their project, "Student Driven Solar," Barclay's Honors Physics students and the West Bloomfield High School environmental club EARTH (Environmentally Aware, Ready To Help), teamed up to do all research, presentations, fundraising, and installation necessary to completely power the WBHS Science Department with solar energy, a project they completed in 2018.

In his role as sustainability coordinator for WBHS, Joshua motivates students to lead the school's recycling and energy conservation efforts, and create their own sustainability projects and systems. Joshua received Honorable Mention among the 2010 Detroit Free Press Michigan Green Leaders, and won the Greater West Bloomfield Coalition Environmental Stewardship Award in 2016. His environmental efforts have been featured in Green American Magazine, and numerous other media articles.

He lives with his wife at their solar and renewably powered home in Whitmore Lake, MI, which may be seen at DreamFarm.org.
