Ms. Julie Cunningham holds a masters degree in curriculum and instruction specializing in teaching and learning science. Julie currently holds the position of Director for the Center for Excellence in STEM Education. This position allows her to work with faculty, teacher education students, teachers and K-12 students in STEM education venues.

Julie has taught high school chemistry and biology as well as undergraduate biology for fifteen years and has been recognized with local, state, and national awards for excellence in teaching. Julie served as an instructional coach in science for the past three years on a Title IIA Physical Science grant through Central Michigan University, assisting elementary school instructors in the use of inquiry skills and physical science content.

Julie has presented at several National conferences as well as facilitated professional development workshops for instructors in middle school chemistry on Central Michigan University's campus. Finally, Julie has experience writing and testing science curriculum: as an assistant editor at The Journal of Chemical Education (JCE), The Wisconsin Fast Plants Program and The Great Lake Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC).
